# Use Zoning Map Explorer to visualize the city Zoning Map Explorer is an automated map that shows the different Chicago zoning districts and calculates their coverage of the city or a selected subarea of the city. ![screenshot of Zoning Map Explorer showing where all the B2 zoning districts are](zoningmapexplorer_map.png) *Screenshot 1. The Zoning Map Explorer is showing across the City of Chicago where all the B2 zoning districts are; B2 is unique in that it's the only B or C zoning district that allows housing on the ground floor as of right (without special use approval). It's also uncommonly found in Chicago.* ## How to use Zoning Map Explorer [Open the citywide zoning map](https://www.chicagocityscape.com/zoning.php?place=municipality-il-chicago&radius=0) or find the link of a smaller area in any Place Report representing part of Chicago. (Look for the "Zoning Map Explorer" button below the Property Finder filters, and within the Table of Contents's "Additional Snapshots" list.)
