# Find properties for sale with unused zoning capacity in Chicago Unused zoning capacity is the characteristic of a property that has fewer dwelling units than its currently-assigned zoning district allows. This allows the property to add units or build something new with more units than extant. ## Use Property Finder 1. Open Property Finder for a Place Report in Chicago. Use the 60608 ZIP code, for example. 2. Select these two filters. **Value add filters**: "Unused zoning capacity (multi)" and **Filter by listing status**: "Both types". 3. Select the "Apply filters" button. 4. After a moment, the data table and map will reload the responsive properties. The data table will have new columns displayed to indicate zoning information: the current zoning district and the number of units allowed given the lot size and the current zoning district. The responsive properties also have a "#UZC" label. This label will appear in Property Finder any time you select filters having to do with Chicago zoning. ![Graphic showing the data table results after applying the two filters.](images/listingsunusedzoningcapacity_table.png) *Screenshot 1* ## Related articles - [[Property sales|Finding property sales nearby and anywhere in Cook County]] - [[Properties for sale|Properties for sale in Chicago]] - [[Unused zoning capacity]]
