# Information about the Chicago zoning map Chicago Cityscape updates its copy of the City of Chicago zoning map approximately every two months by requesting it from the Chicago Department of Assets & Information Services's GIS team. The date of the version of the copy of the map we are presenting is displayed on each webpage where Chicago zoning district information is indicated. This includes: - Property Report - Place Report - [[Zoning Map Explorer]] - and is also shown in the "Property data updates" section of [this webpage](http://chicagocityscape.com/address.php) Most properties will never have their zoning district changed as Chicago City Council updates only the zoning district of properties when requested by the owners. Chicago Cityscape disclaims any and all liability of its presentation of its copy of the Chicago zoning map and suggests that property sellers and buyers perform minimal and perhaps additional due diligence to ascertain the current zoning district of a property they are buying or selling. The Chicago zoning map sometimes has drawing errors, and these errors are unlikely to give the property owner a claim as the zoning map is not the official source of zoning district designations. The Chicago City Council Journal of Proceedings and its textual descriptions of boundaries is the official source of zoning district designations. ## How many Chicago zoning map vintages are on Chicago Cityscape? Our oldest version of the map, which you can explore in Zoning Map Explorer, is August 2012. Other vintages are shown in the screenshot below. ![screenshot showing the dropdown menu to choose a different vintage of the Chicago zoning map](chicagozoningmap_vintages.png) ## External links - [City of Chicago zoning map](https://gisapps.chicago.gov/ZoningMapWeb/?liab=1&config=zoning) # Related articles - [[Zoning Assessment]]
